I disagree the following provisions of the current platform:

  • Article 1: Section 3C – I don’t support repeal of the 17th Amendment.

  • Article 1: Section 4A: I don’t support a return to the Gold & Silver standard.

  • Article III: Section 3 – All schools should be accountable, not just public schools.

  • Article III: Section 4 – Holding rural schools harmless, much easier said than done.

  • Article III: Section 12 – Education is already too political.

  • Article VIII: Section 2B – To specific and individually serving.

  • Article IV: Section 2B – There are many reasons to require a license.

  • Article XIV: Section 3D – I believe there are rare exceptions to consider: life of the mother, rape, and incest.

Article I, Section 2F: This section is too vague. How is “voter approval” defined? A simple majority?
A super majority? What is a “special project”? I need clear definitions before I can agree to support
this. Article I, Section 3C: I do not support repealing the 17th amendment. Article I, Section 4A: I do
not believe that the gold/silver standard is a wise choice. Article I, Section 5D: Although I agree with
the general principle of state sovereignty and love the independent spirit of our state and its laws,
this section may put at-risk monies that positively impact all Idahoans and help keep taxes low. It
also creates lawlessness when we do not work together as Americans to abide within a framework
that creates nationwide laws and principles. Article I, Section 5F: I do not support amending the
Idaho Constitution as described. Article II, Section 3: This is inconsistent with state law (which is six
months). Changing it will only confuse voters. Article III: I believe that taxpayer dollars should only
fund educational institutions that have taxpayer oversight and opportunity for taxpayer involvement
in a system that allows for religious freedom that benefits all taxpayers, not religious preference
which does not, just as I believe our forefathers sought. I believe that the children of taxpayers
should receive an education that creates well-informed, data-driven, democracy-empowered
citizens in an environment that is physically safe for all students, taught by trained and accredited
educators who well-paid for their expertise and value to society. Article XIV, Section 2: I support the

marriage of two consenting adults (18 years of age or older) and urge the State to end the practice
of allowing child marriage. Article XIV, Section 3: I believe that abortion should be legal, rare, and
safe in instances of rape, incest, instances where the child’s life is at risk and when the life of the
mother is at serious risk. Article XVII: I do not believe that judges should be elected in partisan
elections.

Michael Buhler• “I have read the Idaho Cons2tu2on and the Idaho Republican Party PlaDorm. Except for the provisions specifically noted below, I support the Idaho Republican Party PlaDorm and accept it as the standard by which my performance as a candidate and as an officeholder should be evaluated. I cer2fy that I am not a candidate, officer, delegate or posi2on holder in any party other than the Republican Party.”• 2I--I support reform of the tax policy, preferably a flat or "fair" tax but not necessarily a full repeal of the 18th amendment.• 4A--I believe that we need to reform our financial system to strengthen our economy but I'm not sure that abolishing the federal reserve or a return to the gold standard is the answer.• 5E--I do not oppose term limits Signed: Michael D Buhler 3/27/24
